Offline Phase Two:
1. Go to any airfield hangar. Pick an
airplane, select a runway, and board the airplane.
2. Takeoff, flyout a few miles, and test fire
the machine guns. Return to the original airfield and get behind
a target drone. Practice shooting down the drones until you feel
you have learned the basic procedures of aerial gunnery.
3. Land the aircraft, exit to the hangar,
and load bombs and rockets. Re-plane to the runway of your choice.
4. Go to an exterior view and inspect the
ordnance (bombs and rockets) loaded on the underwing hardpoints.
Re-board the airplane and takeoff.
5. Climb out and fly back to the airfield
(or a designated firing/bombing range) and strafe some buildings, gun emplacements,
etc. Learn to strafe and fire rockets at ground targets.
6. Climb out again and practice dive bombing,
observing where the bombs fall.
Repeat Phase One and Phase Two as necessary, and then again with bomber aircraft. Select a heavy bomber from the hangar, fly to a target airfield or a designated bombing range, learn to calibrate the bombsight, and practice dropping bombs in various salvos. Also go to the various gunner positions and learn to fire the onboard machine guns.
Offline Phase Three:
1. Go to an aircraft carrier and select a
fighter plane. Fuel it and board it.
2. Takeoff from the carrier, fly around the
naval task force, and drop the arresting gear hook.
3. Set up a landing pattern to the CV and
shoot three (3) successful traps. During this procedure, practice
retracting the hook after landing, taxing on the deck, and re-fueling on
the CV re-arming grid.
4. Reset the arena for nighttime. Repeat
steps one to three at night, accomplishing 3 nighttime traps.
Online Phase One:
1. Arrange with your training officer or other
squadron members to meet in a head-to-head arena.
2. Practice using your radio text and voice
functions. Learn to setup and change radio channels.
3. Repeat the aerial gunnery and bombing that
you accomplished in the offline phases, only this time work with other
pilots in the arena via radio.
4. Practice aerial dog fighting with your
training officer and other pilots. You will have the opportunity
to learn to use your parachute.
5. Fly in the head-to-head arena until you
feel comfortable with the airplane, your radios, and your gunnery.
Online Phase Two:
1. Go the M.A. (main arena).
2. Coordinate with your training officer and
join with other squad members, get an airplane and fly into enemy territory.
3. Working with other pilots over the radio,
who will hopefully cover you and fly wingman for you, attempt a "first
kill."
4. Do not be discouraged if disasters occur.
There is a steep learning curve in this game and you should normally expect
to be on that curve for up to 30 days. Stay with it, be persistent,
and do not get flustered or upset. Enjoy the game. Your skills
will improve dramatically.
5. Welcome aboard and welcome to one of the
most challenging and fun activities in the world.
